Thread: Spine Surgery Team Approach

  1. Default Spine Surgery Team Approach

As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, my goal is to restore an attractive appearance and full function through surgical procedures. You're probably familiar with a plastic surgeon performing cosmetic procedures, burn repair, or breast reconstruction – but the reality is that we do so much more. Personally, I practice with a group of Long Island spine specialists. As surgeons, we each have different education, training and experience – yet our combined skill sets allow us to achieve success for even the most challenging patients.

    Our Team
There are three surgeons on our team: an orthopedic surgeon, a neurosurgeon, and a plastic surgeon (myself).

    • Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Marc Agulnick. Our orthopedic surgeon treats conditions of the musculoskeletal system: bones, joints, muscles, connective tissue, etc. With his specialization in the spine, he is skilled at protecting and restoring spinal structure and function.

    • Neurosurgeon, Dr. Benjamin R. Cohen. Our neurosurgeon treats conditions of the spinal cord, brain, and nerves. He specializes in the treatment of traumatic injuries or illnesses affecting the back and neck. He has completed an extra Fellowship in Complex Spinal Surgery.

    • Plastic surgeon, myself. My role at our practice is to ensure that results "look" as healthy as possible. I also use my reconstructive training to restore function.

This combination works for us. It helps us find creative solutions for complex spinal problems.

    Best,

    Dr. Davenport

Welcome to the forum Dr Davenport

It would be great if you could expand on your practice and explain a bit about what sort of procedures do you do that draws a plastic surgeon into spine surgery
