Psychological cause
The sub-heading might come to you as a surprise. The fact remains, however, that psychological problems can sometimes cause and often aggravate backaches. You may not realize how intimately your body and mind are inter-related. Separating bodily aches from the more ethereal aches of the soul is a less straightforward task than you might think.
It is not rare for severely depressed or anxiety-affected patients to focus on the lower back as the source of their pain. These patients are neither 'faking' nor 'carping', because to them, the pain 'feels' absolutely real.
Below are some examples of psychological causes producing backaches..
The 'You owe me' back pain : Insurance companies who have to deal with accident-compensation cases sometimes come across this phenomenon. The backache lasts until all legal and financial questions of a compensation case are settled, and then miraculously disappears.
It is quite probable that long standing psychological problems and chronic mental stress bring about a chronic tension in the body-muscles. And back rendered vulnerable due to our sedentary life-style, becomes the victim of pain.
It should be noted that all backaches, irrespective of their causes, give rise to a certain amount of anxiety and mental tension which, in turn, aggravate the back pain. Thus, a vicious circle is formed.

Solution to Cure Back Pain
Hey Ami9167,
I think you are absolutely onto something.
The mind-body connection is often discounted in the medical community because it continuously focuses on only what it can prove or disprove. And many back pain suffers hate to be told, "it is in your head".
More often than not, the cause and solution for such a scenario is not adequately explained to the person suffering from back or neck pain. And they walk away frustrated and throw out the possibility that "psychologically" they may be cured.
Unfortunately, these people miss out on the opportunity to fix the underlying problem. It may be years later before they revisit any conceivable thoughts about their own "mind-body" connection.

Absolutely!
I'm a firm believer in the pioneering works of Dr John E Sarno and his theory of the Mindbody Connection. I have all his books and know that 86% of the people who have read them have given him 4 or 5 stars on Amazon.
I also know it to be true because of how I cured myself 98% of back pain. I wrote a previous post about this in another section, of how I reduced my arthritic bump on my finger too, and how my brother in law reduced his herniated discs through diet and the removal of stress and anxiety.
