Thread: My Herniated Disc

    Default My Herniated Disc

Here's one of the MRI pictures of my herniated disc.

While this does not look good, I'm actually not in any pain from it, which is the good news. The bad news is that all the disc material pressing on the nerve is giving me a lack of sensation in my right foot.

I get that too!!! I have 2 discs like this though it does cause me considerable pain at times, currently waiting another Epidural injection for the pain down left leg. My surgeon did say I have lost some nerve response in the left side. I don't think I'll be getting it back either! How are you getting on?

My right foot is still numb and lacking sensation - although a lot of the time I just forget about it.

It seems to be a very slow recovery (4 months now) and I'm always looking for things that can speed it along.

The good news is I don't have any pain. In fact before I herniated it, my back was bothering me a lot. I'd had pains quite a bit in my lower back for the first part of last year. And for the week after the herniation I was in agony, but now - no pain.

I used to spend a long time sitting working at a desk. Since the herniation I now spend most of my time laying down on the floor with my laptop on my lap, or on a stand or cushion propped up on my lap. When I do have to sit down for longer periods I notice the effect - not so much pain but I actually feel it in my foot - so I get up and move around.
