Back Pain And Children
Back pain is something we associate with older adults, even people in their late twenties or early thirties. But you'll be surprised to know that it has a high incidence in children too.
Most of the time underage back pain does not get the quick attention it deserves. It is often passed off as a minor sprain or it is assumed that the child is merely trying to get a day off from school.
Back pain in children is a growing occurrence the world over. Neglecting your child's complaint can have very severe repercussions, and may even land your child with a serious disability. Remember, children are usually very supple and not susceptible to back pain as an adult is. However, their young bones and cartilages may sometimes fall prey to diseases that adults do not usually suffer from. If they have back pain it must be taken very seriously.
Acute or chronic back pain may be the result of an injury as children are prone to be injured at school, at play or even while frolicking around at home. But if there was no injury preceding the spell of back pain, the child needs immediate medical attention. Proper diagnostic procedures need to be carried out, and the root cause identified and treated.
