Curing back pain is a process and needs to be dealt with appropriately. Most people make a series of mistakes when dealing with back pain, the classic mistake is continuing to do what does not work!
If you have visited your practitioner for a period of at least 3 months and you are not getting a continual improvement and feeling better, then you need to take a different direction and be referred out. At the very least, you should insist on getting a monthly evaluation of your progress. You need to be clear that there is a plan of care, and that a proper diagnosis has been made.
If it is not working for you then you need to take different action or be referred to the right source.
Many people are guilty of not dealing with the pain the first time around - they do not do anything proactive to cure back pain when the first bout of pain occurs and instead go about their lives as if nothing has happened. They may do minor things to deal with the pain to make it go away, but when it happens again and then more and more frequently they realise they have a more serious problem and curing their back pain now becomes a priority.
You need to know what conditions are developing in your body and more importantly what is causing those conditions to develop in the first place. Most people only deal with the pain and not the cause of the problem until they get to the point that they cannot work.
Assuming that you are in good physical shape does not exclude you from an onset of back pain. Even if you eat right, exercise regularly and think you are fit, it will not necessarily save you; in fact some athletes are more likely to suffer from back pain than others, for example; runners, cyclists, swimmers, dancers, gymnasts and bodybuilders. The same applies to non-athletes, where their regular workout routine may contribute to certain muscle imbalances in the body which will lead to back pain issues.
Most people would not even realise that the majority of treatments they receive for the treatment of back pain address only the symptoms. Pain is only the signal to let you know that there is something wrong, and by getting rid of the pain it will not eliminate the cause of the pain.
People do not understand that back pain is a process and takes months or years to develop, it rarely happens overnight and people do not recognise it until something starts to hurt, however years of driving, sitting at a desk or performing perfectly normal routine activities can create muscle imbalances which can inevitably lead to back pain.
Curing back pain is possible if you correct the muscle imbalance, the condition that's causing the pain will go away. The good news is that it's easy to find out where these muscle imbalances and postural dysfunctions are on your own body. It only takes a short time if you know what you are looking for.
People tell themselves that there's nothing out there that they don't know about, that surgery is the only option left, or - even worse - that you'll just have to learn to live with the pain. Wrong!
No one knows your body like you do, and nobody cares about your health like you do. Even if you're working with a great professional, you still need to educate yourself.
Patients who are more knowledgeable will get better and faster results. Make the decision to be active in your own rehab today!
