The first signal that your body sends about an impending back problem is generally pretty innocuous. It might appear to be just a pulled back muscle, expected to go away with a bit of rest or popping some analgesics.
But what seemed to be a mere muscle sprain may linger for quite a while. Worse, it might come back in a few months in a more painful form. Here are the back pain symptoms you should watch out for:
* Sciatic pain starts in the lower back and 'radiates' down the hip and back of the thigh and leg. In other words, it follows the path of the sciatic nerve.
* The leg goes numb, or at least weak.
* Walking, frequently changing position or lying down offers some relief, while the pain worsens if you sit or stand for long.
* There is a tingling sensation in the toes and feet.
* The pain becomes more intense if the spine is bent or twisted.
* The pain worsens with time.
It is best to consult a medical professional immediately if you experience the above symptoms.
